Frequently Asked Questions

How does an altar multiply bone XP?

Each bone or ensouled head has a fixed base XP value. Burying it (or using it with no altar) gives that base value; using it at an altar instead multiplies it by that altar's bonus, which stacks higher with lit incense burners at a player-owned house's Gilded altar. xp per bone = base bone XP x altar multiplier.

How many bones do I need for a target level?

bones needed = ceil( (XP for target level - current XP) / (base bone XP x altar multiplier) ) -- the same actions-needed formula used across every training calculator on this site, applied to Prayer's XP-per-bone number instead of an XP-per-action number.

Are the altar multipliers and bone XP values exact?

They're a small, typed-from-memory preset list covering the most common bones and altar setups, clearly labelled approximate. Exact multipliers depend on which house bonuses you have active; confirm the real numbers in-game if you're planning something that matters.
